The July Social Ride will be held on Friday, July 25. We will meet at the C&O Canal Parking Lot at the Shepherdstown Bridge at 9:30 am. The route will be C&O Canal Towpath from Shepherdstown to Harper’s Ferry. This will be an “out-and-back” ride entirely on the towpath. The trail is in good condition, packed fine gravel, no hills, almost entirely tree tunnel. (There has been some damage from high water at a few spots, but trail is passable.) Options for lunch would be: walk over the ped bridge to Harper’s Ferry for choice of restaurants or ride over to Shepherdstown on return. Total distance - about 24 miles.
We will provide lunch venue options in Shepherdstown, Harper’s Ferry and Sharpsburg.
Trail is beautiful. Lots of wildlife and wildflowers. Views of the Potomac all the way. Because of the damage from high water, we would not recommend high pressure road tires.
